Introduction* The purpose of this paper is to explore the implications that community policing has for police officer training, as well as to examine the issue those implications raise. Outlining the boundaries of these concerns is important, because community policing differs radically from traditions policing, such as motor patrol, and also because the number of such programs nationwide is growing rapidly.
